load bank testing by Wolter

Why Load Bank Testing is Essential to Your Business

Load bank testing is essential to maintain the health of an engine generator. Most standby generators are exercised routinely but under a no-load condition. Therefore, a problem with the engine is learned at the worst possible time; during your next power outage.

We recommend an annual load bank test, taking two to four hours, with a minimum load of 80% of the nameplate rating on the generator. For emergency applications and healthcare facilities, we recommend testing as mandated by NFPA-110.

There are many benefits to annual load bank testing:

Early detection of engine issues, reducing the expense of major failures in the future.
Burning off the build-up of carbon and soot deposits in the exhaust system by the higher operating temperatures,  improving engine performance (on diesel units).
Most importantly, provides assurance that the generator should work properly during a future power outage.
